Hello! 👋

This small game prototype was created by LeigerGaming (Developer), EnigmaScribe (Art), and J@X (Audio) for the January 2024 Pirate Jam, run by PirateSoftware.

THEME:  "It's Spreading"

In a post-apocalyptic wasteland and ruined cityscape... 'Cabbage', a being of unknown origin, spreads the seeds of life across the land, and discovers what happened to the previous inhabitants...

This is an early proof-of-concept that includes an example of a few core mechanics we want to include for the puzzle-solving platformer.

Controls:

  • Keyboard (WASD or Arrows for movement, ESC to exit, TAB to restart)
  • Gamepad (Joystick and A/B to move, START/+ to exit, SELECT/- to restart)

This is the FIRST game jam for all three members of the development team - and we're all very new to game development. To keep it realistic, we built this as a very short demo - but we hope it demonstrates the level of quality and care we would put into a larger game. We've added some minor replayability through speedrunning.

Please, have fun with our game! 🙂 Feedback is strongly encouraged, we'd appreciate both positive and constructive responses.

18.83 final time. Might go for a better run later though

Best score so far

I like the idea of the game, but i wish there was more to do to get a better feel for the game. I loved the art style of the game. the sounds are good. nothing felt out of place for me. including the timer made the game more enjoyable to me. now the one thing i didn't like in there is that the water should've been animated but knowing that the game is a demo i know that  you'd do better giving time to do so. all n all i enjoyed it and hope to see more in the future.

good luck to you guys in the jam.

BTW my time was 27.93s.

Animated water is a good call, thanks for that suggestion 😁

We appreciate the detailed feedback as well & good job on your time!

Nice one! You are one of the lowest (best times) I’ve seen so far.
